Default Brake Judder - Help!

When I brake heavily the steering wheel judders very badly as if the brake discs are warped.

The vibration only happens when the brakes are not. I replaced the front discs but it has made no difference. Does anyone know what else could be causing this?

I replaced the front and rear brake pads about 4000km ago. I've done a couple of track evenings with them and had them smoking during one session. Could it be that the pads are causing such massive vibration?

Thanks!

When you replaced the discs, did you ensure that the mating surfaces were PERFECTLY clean and flat?

Are your caliper mounting bolts tight?

The discs were mounted by a local garage and indeed the calipers are tight.

Oddly, the shaking only happens when the brakes heat up - after a few big stops on the track or a bit of downhil fast road driving.

Skeg - what was wrong with your calipers? Were they just loose?
