uprated fuel pump vs std fuel pump
what is the rating of the std fuel pump (99 turbo) as opposed to the 255lph of an uprated pump and what are the limitation of the std pump - i.e. when does it need changed/start to struggle to supply enough fuel etc
i have an 99 turbo still running on the original std pump. the original pump is obviously 12yr old & 90k miles done
i have recently changed to the prodrive ecu on the car (past 3mths) and i do have a new uprated pump sitting in the garage. but in two minds whether its worth changing.
the car was RR'd with the ecu fitted and the AFR's where fine across the rev's

Hi. I'm in the same situation as You. I bought a Walbro 255 and haven't fitted yet. I found this thread on here. Have a read. Oh, I purchased mine from Lateral Performance and asked Mark if it's safe to use uprated fuel pump without remap, because I've heard some stories that it might cause overfueling, and he replied it's not true. Fuel pressure regulator will take care and won't let to overfuel. Hope this help.

If you have a new pump in the garage, why not just fit it .When i bought my 99 uk turbo it had 128k on the clock and the std fuel pump was fine, but i changed it all the same for piece of mind. The fuel pump can just pack up anytime or they can start to stick intermittenly then finally seize up.
