Default my00 running problems

I picked up my00 uk turbo yesterday if feels like it has a miss fire from about 2000rpm to 4000 ish after this it will boost but you can still feel a very smallamont of hesitation from it but every now and again it would run perfect any ideas???

Next my temp gaguge shot up and i have lost water in the header tank and expansion tank was near full with bubbles coming out of it oil level seems to be fine

Head gasket failure.... about 800 quid to fix on average.

The second issue is very likley head gaskets, the first I would look at ignition (leads and plugs) normally, but the plugs could be being fouled by leaks due to the HG failure.

How long and at what road speed where you going when the temp needle shot up? Could be a cooling fan issue if you were stuck in traffic.

Im thinking its the hg gone around the cylinders, that would cause your hesitation as your not getting compression and you would be getting the water pushed out, either way I would have given the car a good test drive before buying, if its private I would be really pissed off as the owner would have known its faulty, if its from a garage then take it back, its warrantied.

I was doing about 40 uphill in 3rd when the temp went up where i pulled over let it cool and the car ran ok again but still with the miss as for the miss i knew about that when buying the car (the guy presure washed the engine) which is what caused the miss like i said when it got to higher revs the miss would seam to go and it would run tidy

I had a feeling it would be headgasket im going to atempt this myself it will be a first for me so could anyone suggest a list of decent parts i could use

Because you have to remove the engine to do the head gasket, and you have to see if either of the heads have warped.

theres nothing brave about that its normal practice to do those things on any car apart from the engine out but that cant be that hard lots of pictures and labeling ill be fine

hi people i press washed my engine bay out and since then i to have had this prob too between 2-4k rpm slight hesertation seems to be over boosting too, ive just ordered a new maf but all this head gaskit talk has made me worry, i have done 300miles with this prob shorly i would of known if it was the head g

Now that definately is brave
You have 2 heads on a scoob, you will probably need to pressure test them, check for warping (so straight away your engine is off to an engineering firm to do so), getting it out of the car, your going to need a hoist and a garage, its much easier to give it to a speciallist, then if your heads do need skimming you wont have to rebuild the engine 500 miles down the line again.

Yeah i know about getting all that done while im there and its apart any ideas on the best parts to use to forge it as well

Crankshaft:
Rods:
Pistons:
Gaskets and thickness:
Clutch:
Uprated oil pump:
Uprated water pump:
ARP bolt: any i can find for my engine

and anything else i might have missed please add it in prep for some decent power
