Default Help ! Emissions mot failure

My 1996 import wagon failed on emissions today, test readings stated HC is fine, Lambda is fine however CO was 0.62 on first fast idle, 0.66 on second fast idle with above 0.30 being a failure.
Knowing that a like for like front cat pie is costly, is it best to replace whole system with new one with one cat only, whats the best set up ?
the car has no performance extras !

stick some forte gas treatment in the tank and give it a good blast and revisit the test centre when the cat is nice and hot and it will probably sail through mate as the most common failure is the cat not being hot enough

I did try Cataclean prior to the test and know that they had the car running for 40 mins while they carried out the mot prior to the emissions test ?

Running at idle does not get the cat hot enough, realy you need to take it for a blast then pull straight in for the test.
