Got a Magnex decat downpipe and centre section but even with a Prodrive WR Sport exhaust it is still way too liud for my liking. Is a Classic STi import exhasut going to be any quieter?

 

Anyone?

 

i doubt it mate,with the other parts you,ve changed on the exhaust its going to bark abit

 

Have you tried a baffled centre pipe? You have a very similar set up to one I had a few years back, I got bored with it, was far to quiet. I'd have thought the sti box would be quieter , more restrictive too.

 

A classic sti backbox due to the size ,will be quieter than your prodrive item . I know ,i've had one of each of them. If you compare the size the sti backbox will fill out the exhaust housing as it has more baffles than the prodrive unit ie:

Your prodrive is merely an up grade of the std exhaust,henceforth smaller and more freeer flowing ie:

Yes, should be much quieter with a classic STI backbox.

The WR sport ones, P1 ones and the PPP ones tend to allow a lot of rumble through. If it drones on cruise after this, consider a resonated or catted centre section.

Quieter yes, much, no. Your problem is the decat and centre section. You need a proper silencer in the centre section with the STi BB to make a concerted difference IMHO.

I went from an APexi 1 piece to a H&S scoobysport cat back, and whilst it is quieter it's still loud !

 

mate i had a magnex downpipe, magnex centre section, and magnex backbox on my old UK turbo and it was really quiet! its all about the backbox dude!

 

Agree totally with the above , i had an original sti back box on my 99 uk turbo,even when it was fully decatted it was really quiet, i then fitted a prodrive backbox ,that was louder than std ,but not like a scooby should sound imho.I then fitted an afterburner vortex,LOUD it was rattling the neighbours window frames lol,so i unduly bought the removable bung.With the bung inserted the car was as loud as a std prodrive back box. Decatting the centre section will not make the car any louder,it will allow the exhaust gases a freeer flow into the back box.If you look at an afterburner vortex backbox and compare it to a std sti backbox you will notice that the after burner is literally half the size of the sti item Ie : less baffles, more noise,better flowing.
