Random set of faults but they must be linked in some way but can someone point me in which direction to look.

The water temp gauge starts off cold then as it heats up it gets to near max then drops to a normal temp, all in about 5 mins of so.

Then it also takes the heater about the same sort of time range to generate any heat, it just blows cold air. then suddenly HEAT.

Help?
