Default Methanol Question

Hi all,
I'm running 5L of Meth to 25L of V power, but I'm thinking of adding extra Meth to keep the charge cooler & protect against det on track days when everything gets so hot.
The question is should I do this or not & how much extra is a good idea, I was thinking say 5.5L to 25L of V power,or mabey just adding a bit less VPower.
Thanks Richard.

Just put in exactly what it has been mapped for. You won't have any issues then

LOL sorry should have mentioned Simtec & twin fuel maps one being Meth in the ratio of 5L to 25L. Iv just heard of people adding a little extra for more protection against det when on track but want to get some other opinions before I consider doing it.

Adding methanol increases the octane but reduces the calorific value, which means if you just added meth without adjusting the fueling you will weaken the mixture which will cause detonation/increased heat and will destroy the engine.
Adding meth is not the same as putting octane booster in the tank.
if you want to increase the amount of meth, you must re-map, you won't gain anything, just melt your pistons :-(

OK, I won't screw with the mix, but is an octane booster worthwhile if not mapped for or will this mess things up to.Thanks for all replies I wouldn't want to melt my pistons.

Don't mess about with the fuel, if it's mapped correctly and everything is in good order you won't have any problems.

OK thanks guys I won't mess with the fuel. Just slightly nervous about an up coming track day as I sometimes get high readings on my KS3. My mapper says they always lie & he binned his & that if I get Det he's set my CEL to flash so not to worry. Also Iv got a 200L barrel of Meth, how long does it last for after opening if I always keep it closed?
