Default Trouble starting

Some advice needed please, I picked up my 95 plate wrx import yesterday only 46,000 miles.

Been at work over night and had some trouble starting it this morning, it started after a couple of seconds but then cut out, i tried again and give it a little bit of revs, only little! and it seemed to calm down after about 10 seconds, i did notice a 'check engine' light on the dash which went out shortly after. I started on my way home and whilst driving slowly the 'check engine' light came on again as i depresed the clutch whilst stopping at lights.

Entered the motorway approx 1.5 miles after and once up to temp give it some and it felt fine, no probs since, once i got home i turned engine off n started it again with no probs.

Once off the m/way at idle the revs were approx 1000RPM, after slower moving traffic at idle they were approx 500 - 660RPM.

What could be the problem, is it anything to worry about or is it just the weather? very damp n cold overnight, frost over the car this morning!

About the car - previous owner (importers) were running the car on 95 ron and 99 ron every 3 tanks, i filled up last night with 99ron. I think the car has ben sat for the past few weeks, maybe months, its got stainless exhaust from the cat back i think (unless its a sport cat) and has an apexi turbo timer.

Sorry about the long thread but im worried now as its my first scoob, im not the most mechanically minded as you can prob tell and any suggestions would be appreciated, cheers.

Could try an ECU reset. Run it only on 99ron ie V-Power or Tesco 99
How to reset ECU:

I will be speaking to the garage tomorrw but in the meantime anyone else have any other suggestions? I have been informed it could be the MAF sensor of O2 sensor?

As b13bat suggested, try do a diagnose see what error codes come up, should be one since you have check engine light come up, just click the link and follow the instructions in how to read ecu error codes

a dodgy sensor somewhere, temp sensor, the diagnose will tell you what it is
