I looked into it for a Subaru Ford powered project I was looking at doing. However after much research I discovered that it can be done but it isn't that reliable. I am now looking at alternative gearboxes or a complete engine rethink (ie one thats already only rear wheel drive!) If anybody knows of a way to convert a Scooby gearbox (reliably!!) then let me know

Someone near my age then, I would love another escort but they fetch strong money. I just find the scoob a bit boring. RWD is so much more fun.

When I drive the scoob I come away thinking I'm a good driver...then my mate takes me out in his 500 brake TVR and shows me how to drive a proper car.

There was a video a few years ago of a rear wheel drive wagon being drifted round an industrial estate. It was going well until they clipped a kerb.

Had a look for it but cant find it.

always wanted to do this to mine (for the fun factor)

it's not hard to do (if your good with a spanner and a tig welder)

just involves removing and splitting centre diff and welding it up again.......I'll see if I still have the link.

It's the rear drive shafts that usually break. Quick and dirty way to do it is to weld center diff and remove front drive shafts. Some front wheel drive rallyists weld their front diff so if you can find some, they will show you how it's done.

You can also buy prepared centre diffs from Japan but I think they go for lots of cash.
