max power from a wrx 01??

Default max power from a wrx 01??

from a standard wrx 01, stanadard turbo.
whats the maximum power can it produce,

i had my car mapped, sports cat up-pipe, decat downpipe
and it produces 268ponies

without changing the turbo what other options can be done to get more power?

would a bigger TMIC help?
if so which ones?

spark plugs ? the NGK 7bs?

You're getting near the limit of what you can get out of a TD04.
Personally instead of trying to get another 10-20 brake which may be available with your current turbo I'd spend some money on brakes/handling mods to help make it more fun to drive.

As above.

Next step power wise is to upgrade turbo and to do that you also need other supporting mods, which means £££

When you get to that stage you also need to seriously think about upgrading suspension and brakes to effectively deploy the power which means even more £££!

Not saying don't do it, just go into it with your eyes open!

the suspension is stock, not sure if i should change them, cos they seem to be lowered and my bodykit is restricted at certain roads at the moment
brakes are the brembo 4 pots,


so theres not much to do ?
car is 7 years old (From new .. all mine )
i heard that spark plugs should be changed in around 45k miles and mine has done 48k.
my mate who owns a prelude upgraded his.
i'm not sure what the benefits are of them, but i thought if i change them rather than go for the standard ones i look into the ngk ones,
also have been told timing belt should be changed in 45k intervals . :O

the only option i can think is breathing for the car so thats why i mentioned TMIC
i know if i change the turbo, then its gonna be a lot to do through out of the whole car

Loads of options, even if you don't want to go lower.
Whiteline ARB's and droplinks are an excellent mod.
Your brakes are Subaru 4 pots not Brembo if they are stock, so you could upgrade to Brembo's/AP etc. or just get some really good pads etc.
Oh and Newage cambelt is due at 50k, which is circa 700 quid if done at a main dealer

they are brembos (bought in a group buy years ago )
i look into the arbs.. thingy what ever they do lol

yeeouch!!! £700 i thought they will be around £200

700 quid or just under was what it cost me.
Whiteline ARB's are about 125 quid each, droplinks about 50 quid per end iirc.
You can have them done in an hour and they will transform the handling.
Go 22mm front and 24mm rear, and get the adjustable ones.

so i drop about 2 cm all round the car?

not sure can the front lip handle it,
it still scrapes on certain places

No mate no drop.
The mm quoted is the thickness of the ARB (diameter)
It won't lower it, but will stiffen it up and dial out understeer.

Depends if you can be a good boy or not! i thought i wouldnt change anything after first map on the tdo4. 2 turbos later and a shed load of cash and im where i want to be.
if you know deep down that you will not want more power then try and take the td04 further but if you think, you may want more power later on. do it now before you spend out on things that will need changing again. thats my regret, spending money i never really needed to spend

handling upgrade transforms your car and is a must to get the most out of it and see how they really should drive.

droplinks are the plastic bit that connect the arb to the wishbone(swing arm)
standard they are plastic but uprated are alloy which stiffens it up nicely

so its a combo of droplinks and arbs ?

okie doke, i look around for a price on them , i noticed theres a GroupBuy, but still got to sort out tyres first and then these near the end of the year

if your wanting more power out of a wrx your going to have to upgrade the turbo which means maybe a td05 18 or 20g turbo, 750cc injectors, boost controller, uprated fuel reg, front mounted or a big monster tmic, big air filter, full decat exhaust and heat wrap the downpipe then go for a remap and you will get a big power upgraded of arounf 350-400bhp, but with that power u need bigger brakes and better clutch and maybe even a better gearbox if your going for the antilag and launch control remap. endless money spending in big power upgrades.

Keep it simple and cheap. You'll find most of bits you need on here or the ebay site.

STi pink injectors £200 ish
STi VF35 turbo £350 ish
STi top mount intercooler £200 ish

Another remap £350 ish

So for around another grand you will be up at around 340. I wouldnt go any further unless you can afford to rebuild the box. I broke mine with 362hp/351 ft lbs

Search about mate, you will get some good deals if you wait and collect parts slowly. I think you should be able to get a VF35 for cheeper than 350, but its just being in the right place at the right time. My build took 12 months but the parts i bought only cost shy of £2k because i shopped around and picked up some nearly new 2nd hand parts.

For example someone on here sold me a new and boxed autobahn A88 intercooler and pipework and a vf35 turbo for £250, i then sold the vf35 for 175 so my fmic cost me 75quid, and it was new!!!

Keep searching the for sale forums on here and other scoob websites, and no matter how much people slag it off ebay is the home of some great bargins, just steer clear of the cheep tacky crap on there.

So your research too, when i bought my scoob 2 1/2 yrs ago i hadnt got a clue, and whilst im no expert now i have learnt a fair bit from people on here.

SOunds like you should be getting your cambelt sorted asap and a bloody goot service before you do anything else though pal.

I had gone the same route with a TD04 and changed for a VF28 (same turbo as a P1), had STi pinks (as suggested above), a fuel pressure regulator, ported headers, STi Top mount and a Walbro fuel pump.

Oh and a Mocom remap

I have also changed to Brembos (the STi ones .... Not the smaller Brembos, which yours may be ? ) and bought Brembo grooved discs as well.

Have been more than happy with this

Its not the price of the timing kits that makes the change expensive, its the labour as the subaru cam belt is a pain in the bum.

I think subaru allocate between 4-6 hours to change one so labour alone at their prices will be a fwe hundread.

Make sure you go somewhere where they know what they are doing or are well isured if you have any problems, any mistakes and its a rebuild jobbie!

Need some more info from the techs about the pulleys, but contact cdf as these are the main suppliuer on here and will tell you the pro's and cons.

In the present climate (recession) I'd buy something that someone has already spent money on; upgrading the the Bugeye WRX TD04 / brakes / suspension is a bit of a money pit ......
