Default closed deck block rebuild

I am rebuilding my96 sti v2 with Wossner forged pistons what sort of power can this bottom end take???

IMHO - I would fit Forged rods and ACL race spec bearings,combined with the Wossners - you will have a strong bottom end.

I am fitting race spec bearings but cannot afford to go to forged con rods,what power can standard rods take??

about 370bhp wouldn't want to push them more than that. The block will withstand a hell of a lot more.

seems pointless doing half a job imo. Just save for a few months and get the rods as well, do it once, do it right...

As a compromise, could you afford a set of STi9 steel rods, which are far stronger than the early rods, at about £190.00 + vat

General opinion seems to be that the rods are the weak point. When comparing STi vs WRX blocks, it's the rods that stayed the same, the pistons were different. So another way of thinking about it is, do you want those old WRX rods in there after you've spent all that time trying to build a good bottom end?

If your Budget is tight and cannot afford to fit Forged rods(would recommend it though) get some STi Version 9 rods and some ARP rod bolts to suit the rods.
