Default Fitting SAMCO induction hose

Am I right in thinking you have to remove the inlet manifold to fit one of these inlet hoses?

What is it that make is not possible to fit with the inlet manifold in place?

Any advice and pictures from anyone who has fitted on of these would be welcomed.
It's for a MY03 STI.

Cheers
Steve

Steve, no is the answer to that...I've fitted the standard size Samco to my 02 and fitted a Hybrid 3" to Sti (both have same inlet manifold and space under neath - the only difference with sti manifold is colour). You'll need to cut off the plastic pipes of the oe inlet to remove it (its a bin job) and then you can feed the samco in and just watch out for the outlet pipes, they need pushing down/sideways etc to clear the underside and wires of inlet manifold.

Expect cut hands but its worth it as cost of removing manifold...
I've heard it said the hybrid is impossible to fit with manifold in place but I've done it so standard size one should be a "snap" lol

I'm sure it can be done, and I give 'nuff respect' to anyone who has LOL.

But having done this job three times, I would never ever, ever think about doing it with the manifold in place. There are all kinds of brackets and stuff under the manifold that just make it such a hassle. IMHO it's less trouble to take the manifold off.

Well, I'd do a standard fit samco again no worries, but hybrid 3"...aaaaaaahhhhhh!

Choice is yours...you can always take manifold off if find it to tricky so no worries there.

So there you have it LOL. I'd say try doing it without removing the manifold first, if you have no luck, whip the manifold off. It looks daunting but it's just a question of taking your time and being careful. I tend to label every hose and plug I pull off with masking tape wrapped round it so I remember where it goes when putting it all back together.
