Default Wheel Bearings

I've got a whinning noise coming from the n/s rear of my car that sounds like a worn wheel bearing.
Does anyone one know if the wheel bearings need to be pressed in (by press at a garage) when replaced, or if I can 'push' them in it at home? Also any recommeded suppliers for the parts?

I had a wheel bearing go at the start of the year on my bugeye.
Sounded more like a whirring noise than a whining noise though.
Cost me somewhere between £150 and £200 to have it done by the dealer (I can't remember now sorry). No idea how much for parts but just to give you a ballpark figure if you decide to get someone to fit it for you.
