Greetings all

Busy putting the following together for my MY96 version II car:

Link ECU
FMIC
Bosch uprated fuel pump (already in)
HKS Adjustable fuel pressure regulator

Already got fully decatted 3" zorst, twin-dump down-pipe and TMS-1 EBC.

Undecided about fuel injectors and need some advice please. Was thinking of converting the old side-feed system to top-feed and using STi VII pink injectors. Uprated side feed injectors seem quite scarce and at the same time we can convert the rails to a parallel setup. Any counter suggestions?

With above mentioned mods, do I need uprated injectors?
If so, do I need uprated fuel rails too or will the fuel pump and FPR do the job?

Will probably be running my stock TD05-16G for the foreseeable future but will first have it serviced and reconditioned.

Any advice much appreciated in advance

fuel rails will be fine, you can get 440, 550 and 850cc side fed injectors.
I would try to source a set of second hand 550s, should be about 200gbp

Can you recommend a good brand for uprated phase 1 injectors?

Not too keen on buying 2nd-hand over the Net as I won't be able to check things first or send them back easily of something is wrong.

They supply me with injectors and I have had no problems. Speak to Mike Tuckwood or in his absence, Jase. Mike was one of the guys who was a member here in the old days so he has been around a long time.
Yellow 440cc are readily available secondhand. I have a good set here from a P1 with low miles and in good condition when they were removed. £100 plus postage etc. You would need an injector adaptor kit for these to fit your rails. Cost is about £35 delivered.
440cc yellows will run 325-350 bhp bracket subject to fuel pressure.
Your rails are OK so no need to change.
Your turbo is good for something like 340-350 bhp subject to supporting mods and what boost you want to run.
A step up from yellow 440s is 550cc which will deal with feature creep to around 400+ bhp and your Link willaccomodate the changes, no problem.

Actually just received a mail from Jase in response to a query I logged via their website. He is quite helpful. Says most their injectors are Power Enterprise injectors so that is good from what I've heard. Nice to get confirmation via ScoobyNet, thanks!

Why do you say my rails are OK? Are the older phase 1 rails not prone to the typical fuel starvation problem on no.2? Is the parallel rail conversion not necessary on my car then?

The 650's are cheaper than the 550's so I figured better value for money but will that be overkill for my setup?

You are running a TD05 16G so your power ceiling is around 350 bhp. Even if you were producing 400 odd bhp your fuel rails are still adequate. Altering the fuel rails is not difficult but it takes time and money and for what you want, the O/E set up is adequate.
If you are fitting an aftermarket FPR then reverse the direction of fuel flow.
I cannot prove that makes an improvement for sure but it may have some beneficial effect. That is as far as I would go but of course some people go to parallel fuel rails, even with a TD04!!!

Ok, please ellaborate on how reversing the fuel rails will help? Won't it just shift the problem of the series design from piston no.2 to whatever then will be last in line? I am definitely putting an FPR on so this is an option for me. Just need more info to relay to my tuner and see if he thinks it's worth the effort.

The last in line is piston 3, which is also nearest the turbo, so it the hottest pistion at the end of the fuel flow. So reversing the flow makes it first in the flow. With an adjustable FPR it is easy to reverse the flow thanks to the elbow supplied with the kit that replaces the OE FPR.

Whether there is a pressure difference between 1st and last injector in series is debatable, but since there is little effort required its no bad thing to do.

I'd just go parralell anyway if your gonna mess with rails, its an easy and costs very little with the simple method, standard fuel hose and a couple of brass fuel t's little work with an axesaw.... or can get quite expensive with modified an6 rails and braided hose, an fittings circa £350 to £400 with reg, guy on here called MEF does a good job for all this...

What does circa mean? Sorry, not familiar with all the UK terminology yet.
