Have a look and see if there is a sensor attached to the pipe or cat that you intend to remove if it has it may well do if not then it should be ok..
Usually centre sections don't have

I fitted one last weekend, it does have a sensor but after changing have had no cel issues up till now, maybe I was lucky, but I would say just fit it as it is unlikely to cause a problem.

The sensor should be BEFORE the cat, and so in theory there should be no problems. In my experience, the cats that have the sensor IN or AFTER the cat are the ones that will put the light on, the ones before USUALLY dont. Mine was before the cat and i changed it, no problems, no light on and hasnt come on.
I drove it steady for about 50 miles to let things settle in.

If the light goes on, it will put that part of the ECU readings into a base line reading, as it cant get the correct readings from it.
As for harming the engine, if theres a light on its for a reason and could always hinder another part from correctly working. ALWAYS get it checked, and especially on turbos.

Maybe some others will come and say different, DONT take just one persons answer. Let everyone have their say and see what comes out.
