Default Starting Issue/Noise - 05 STI

I'll try and explain this the best I can. On the odd occasion when trying to start the car I get this noise, the only way I can describe is it sounds like when your engine is already running and you turn the ignition to start it again. There is no starter motor noise first. When I try to restart it its fine. Any ideas what would cause this? The car is still under warranty and the next service will include a spark plug change. Any info much appreciated.

Could this be a mechanical problem with the Starter Motor rather than an electrical issue?

sounds like either you have a sticky starter motor and what is happening is the solonoid is not pushing the gear out fast enough before it starts to spin and is just hitting the ring gear on your flywheel or the other thing is maybe the ring gear on the flywheel is damaged.

Are they sensors than can pin point the fault or would a visual inspection be enough? Sorry if the questions sound dumb.
