Default ecu reset - check engine light

Ok, I've reset the ecu on my uk turbo my2000.
When I started the engine after connecting the green & black connectors and holding down the accelerator for several seconds, the eml starts flashing straight away.
From the instructions it seems to imply that the eml will flash after driving for a minute .

Am I doing something wrong or just misinterpreting things?

Cheers

Nick

For my car (95 WRX) it should be a case of :
connect green-green and black-black.
Turn ignition to on position but engine off.
Accelerator fully down, lift halfway, hold for a second, release.
Start engine.
Drive for a short distance and CEL should flash indicating all clear.
Stop.
Turn off and disconnect connectors.
That's it.
To then check any codes, connect black-black : CEL will flash as appropriate - steady flashes indicate all is ok.

Just remember to stay off boost when driving the car whilst the connectors are connected. It made a huge decrease in performance when i boosted with the connectors connected.

It was nearly 10 mins of urban driving before my CEL continuously blinked on MY96 STI saying all was OK.

Hope that helps.

Ok, so I follow the instructions, start the car and pull away and the eml comes on after about 6 seconds. I suppose some ecu's might reset faster than others?
