Default Apexi Power Intake 507-F002

Can anyone confirm what car this filter is meant to fit?
It was sold as for a GC8 9/96 - 9/98, but when i took it to a well known specialist to fit I was told it was the wrong part as it clearly didn't line up to the MAF housing.
My car is a MY98 WRX STI Type-R Version 4.

Thanks

the same thing has just happened to me too, apparently the MAF on a WRX and a STI are different sizes
