Default NAF MAF??

Evening,

OK, a fairly usual cry for help on here. My MY00 has developed the infamous hesitant missfire at around 4K along with a backfire type pop if I nail it and lift just as the turbo kicks in. Motor is standard except Forge VTA & H&S back box. From my searches so far most people point the accusing finger at the MAF. I tried the suggested start her up & unplug it and she coughed a bit and then kept running. I get no engine warning light (except when unplugging the MAF) just a frustrating hesitation.

I'm pretty sure I'll be inundated with 'yep, it's the MAF alright' as a response so my plea is two fold, one to make me feel better before going and shelling out serious money on a bit of plastic and two, has anyone got a MY00 MAF knocking around that they'd like to exchange for a few beer vouchers?

Cheers

John

Well, to start you off... Yep it's the MAF alright At least it certainly sounds like the MAF to me. Bright side is I believe the MY00 is one of the cheaper MAF's (could be wrong there though).

Thanks for the reply. Called my local dealer at lunchtime and for the 'reasonable' sum of £75 + Gordon's Theft Tax I got a new one. Fitted this evening and just got back from a most enjoyable road test. She now pulls hard to 7K+ without a complaint
