Why a 2.5 for 400??, maybe a nice MD turbo and a remap will get you close..

2.5 with 400/400 will be great fun with masses of low down torque, so will suit every day driving to the bone. The pistons are regarding as being the weak link in these blocks so your best bet may be to drop in some forged pistons. The standard rods will be ok for that power as long as your not revving it to 8K.....

Other option is a stregthened 2.0.
I'm currently running over 400 atf with a forged 2.0 block built by Zen. Driveability is excellent also-But I am running an 18G with Meth

Forged 2.0 probably will be a little cheaper than the 2.5, but will also depend on what turbo you want to run. If you opt for the 2.5 an MD321T would be lovely, but on a 2.0 you don't need such a large application and a 20G/321H would suffice.

All depends on what and how much you want to spend really....

4k Should cover a 2.0 Build, used 20G Turbo, used STI Topmount, Tweak to map, 2nd hand 3"inch decat system......Just....
The Injectors should just be big enough for 400, although you may need a FPR.

That should get you to a very reliable 400 atf. It would be better if you had a few hundred pound more and opted for a MD321H instead, which will easily achieve your power target without any surge-Like some 20G's...

Once you get the engine built and change the turbo you will need another tweak to your map, but it shouldn't be as expensive as your first map.

You may just be able to squeeze in the MD within the 4k budget then...

If Northampton isn't too far from you, give Zen Performance a call and they will be able to give you an exact quote to what your looking at. Their prices are very competitive, so you may have a chance.

Std Sti engine V7 on can make up to 450 bhp., if you can find one cheap.

Headers, big turbo, re-map again....

Only prob with a 2.5 may be insurance, I can do ANYTHING to mine for free, except a 2.5 conversion....

Dunx, heading for 400 next year...

if your 100% sure you want no more than 400

2.5 block
forged pistons
650 injectors (might get away with 550's with a uprated reg- ask mapper)
321H turbo
clutch ?
gearbox - you know it wont be far away

450+ starts to cost alot more

you really need to get rid of the stock suspension \ brakes as well if thats not already done
