Got a 96 uk spec turbo with an occaisional misfire usulally as it comes on boost but also sometimes at low rev's you can feel it jump anyone got any advice!

do you mean it hesitates on part throttle, i.e your at 2k revs and then depress the throttle, nothing happens then it jerks forward and revs increase.
if so check your MAF sensor you may not get a check light but your MAF could be contaminated. clean the MAF then reset your ECU.
Or could be your throttle position sensor.

Coil packs seem to be a common cause of miss fire, check your plugs and make sure your leads are ok. What's the mileage? has the plugs ever been changed?

How can you safely clean the MAF ?

Similar symptoms with mine were cured with new plugs and coil packs. If you've already eliminated these though it could be the oxygen sensor, I had to replace that one too !

I've no idea how much coil packs are, I've never had to replace mine. Give scoobysport or some of the others a ring and they'll price one for you.
