Default Boost with decat downpipe

What happens to the boost, when you have a turbo back catless exhaust system and induction kit? I know the turbo spools earlier, but does the level of boost increase, or is this still governed by the ECU?

Im sure the boost will change when you get it remapped.

You are having it remapped to sort the fuelling out after the induction kit arent you - i think you probably should

kewl - you may find its running a bit lean now after changing the induction. I dont know anything about the remap chip so cant comment there.

TBH all I have actually done to the car is fit a decat downpipe & boost guage. I have purchased the remap chip but not fitted it yet.

The cat back exhaust, induction kit, & aftermarket dumpvalve were all fitted when I got the car. The induction I am planning to revert back to the standard box with an STI panel filter in, as the last owner gave me the original air box with the car. But unfortunately he didn't give me a standard recirc. dumpvavle, so I am looking for one of those at the mo, for an MY93.

When I fitted a boost gauge to my car I was slightly surprised to see that with a full decat exhaust but the std ECU it was boosting to about 17 or 18psi!

Even more surprising is that now I've put the std exhaust back on it's still doing it!

either a faulty boost gauge or it is not a standard ecu!!

Yeah, thats what I thought! It's never hit fuel cut, but the gauge is correct I think as it matches the PFC commander boost monitor. I'm not really bothered as I only had the std ECU in for the MOT and I've gone back to the PFC now which is mapped for 1.2bar - but there's something strange going on!
