Default Nasty flat spot - injector problem?

I seem to have a problem on large throttle opening/ full throttle, when the engine goes through some kind of flat spot. I first noticed this at 3000 to 3700 rpm but now it doesn't seem to be in the same rev range. Recently it seems to come in at 4000 rpm and last for about 500 rpm or so. This can be quite disconcerting when overtaking on the back roads.
Boost is OK. All I can think of is a blocked or faulty injector, does this sound right?
It is a MY99 car and always run Optimax.

Any comments?

Thanks

Duke

would check out the usual suspects first, plugs, ignition and maf.
I would imagine a faulty injector would cause problems no matter what the rev range if full throttle was used
