Default Fuel pump probs

Went to fit a fuel pump today but after removing the original one I noticed it was different to the walbro GSS341 I was going to fit. On the standard one the inlet and outlet on the pump are in line, but on the Walbro the are offset 180 degrees(see pic)

There is no way to fit it as the outlet on the pump doesn't line up when the pump is fitted correctly in the bracket. (See dodgy ms paint diagram)

I could rotate the pump to line it up but then the sock will point in the opposite direction to which the standard one faced. Also if I was to do that, I can't use the rubber isolater that fits on the bottom of the pump as that only fits in one way.
I was assured that the GSS341 was the correct pump for the classic shape impreza (P1). Anybody else had this problem?
Cheers.

There must be hundreds of people on here who have fitted Walbro pumps, so surely someone has encountered the problem. I'm getting a remap on Friday morning and wanted the pump fitted for it so Thursday is the only day I can do something about it, if anything. So any help or suggestions on what to do are greatly appreciated.

Cheers

How about a small length of fuel hose and two jubilee clips?
