i've got a 2002 wrx with the following mods
full 3" straight through exhaust inc down pipe (no cats)
megan stainless headers
kn typhoon induction kit
unichip
currently running 292hp and 304 ftlb

will installing and boost controller gain any more performance or shall i ditch the unichip and get an ecutek remap?

To be honest, neither will give you any sort of real gain. Your TD04 will be pretty much running at it's limit.
I personally would avoid the controller as upping the boost without adjusting the fueling would be a real no no.
The Tek would provide safe power but no more than the unichip i imagine.
I say, plonk a bigger turbo on and then get tekked up
