"8psi" relates to the "actuator" pressure.

The VF28 can run 18psi, and even 22psi, depending on engine capacity, and rpm.

cheers

the engines a 1.6 8v and RPM only goes up to 7k.

was initially going for a 200sx T25 turbocharger but seem hard to get hold of a decent condition one secondhand.

if that 0.63 a/r quoted is the turbine than its just under garrett t28 size (0.64a/r)

What power are you actually looking for ? You may find the VF28 a little laggy on a 1.6lt.

Had you considered a TD04 which is good for circa 280bhp, and very cheap, and easy to pick up used ?

ideally i would like t25 size hence wanting the 200sx turbo.

a t3 sized turbo would be a little laggy from reading others experience.
t28 size would be slightly laggy but not too bad.
t2 wouldnt have any lag but might run out of puff at higher rpm and probably wont like much boost.

as for power. should be around 210bhp +nitrous on top (in a 840kg car) so should be quite fun.

Try a TD04. You can pick them up for about £50-£100 second hand, used on the UK Impreza as standard. Can be ragged silly, and if it let's go, just throw another one on.

Yes it's water cooled.

A/R's can be very misleading, because they are only relative to the size of the rest of the turbo. EG: VF28 .63 a/r, circa 330bhp. Garrett GT30 .63 a/r, circa 500bhp !

Base the turbo you choose on what it produces on other cars of a similar CC's. This will give you a rough idea.

Unless you have a turbo's compressor flow map, in which case you can work it all out, but even that can be misleading.

got a problem, found a decent TD04, BUT... the compressor outlet would point to the front of my car and wouldnt fit as there isnt much room..

is there any that point in the same direction as the manifold fitting, i.e. pointing away from the manifold and down towards the downpipe?
