Default My STi

I have the gc8 classic impreza the first full production STI. I love it to bits but It does not have abs. Its got fuses in for it and a relay but thats about it as under the hood i cannot see anything thats states ABS, also not seen any sensors. Is it at all possible I could convert it ? using bis from a scraper or summert ?

Also do I need to remap the ecu to work on uk fuel (optimax) someone on another forum said I was going to blow the engine if i didn't.

Any ideas

Can't remember if the STi1 had ABS or not, but I personally wouldn't bother trying to convert it if you don't have it.

With regard to fuel, Optimax is really a bare minimum or you may well damage the engine due to det. Ideally you need Optimax and booster, or a new ECU. Nobody offers a remap for the early STi (think the scoobyecu is for the WRX only?)

A new ECU will allow you to use Optimax alone safely, and will also give more power / torque, especially if you modify the car.

Your options are:
Apexi power FC
Link ECU
GEMS
Motec

In that order of expense

Ah, stand corrected

Presume that has same boost targets as the WRX version? Thought it would have to be a different map given the internal differences on the STi?

My map was for 1.13 bar which is just below the fuel cut on the standard map sensor. I believe the sti (like mine) has the higher boost whereas the wrx gets 1.0 bar. The scoobyECU has to cater for a wide tolerance in different cars so obviously the sti with the forged pistons will be able to take the slightly higher boost.

Yep, just wondering whether it was a different chip version for STi and WRX, but from what you say they are a generic map.

I know they do a different one for one of the Wagon WRX's as its slightly differently setup.

Ta for that!

The reason for the wagons is because it is a TD04 hence a different map altogether.

No probs
