Question

I have just fitted an oil temp gauge on my MY93 and was wondering what temp I should be seeing. I have searched the threads and most people report about 80-90C. Mine is showing over 100 after a 10 min steady drive (<4000rpm).

I have recently changed the oil (Castrol RS 0w40). I have used the bung under the alternator for the sender as the TIM pressure sender would not fit here (huge).

Should I be worried??

I use Mobil 1 0w40 in an my94 uk and the oil temp runs up to 95. During a hard session it may rise by a couple of degrees but no more. Never had any probs. Cheers Olly

Your sender position in the block will indicate higher readings than if it was sump mounted. Couple this with the fact that you are using very thin oil, and you will see higher readings than some of us get. (Go to 10/60 RS in the summer at least?)
