Heard all about these things, but not sure why you would want to use them, if theres a prob, back off the power, and get into a garage....... If theres a constant problem then surely engines a bit poorly, surely.... ???

 

How do you know there is a problem?

Knocklink is a visual warning that det may be occurring.

 

I presumed if theres signs of pre det, then to back down on the power take it easy, it was a thread i saw a few months ago....

The point is, how do you know there are signs of det? So how do you know when to lift off or take it easy?

The knocklink warns you of detonation, else how would you know it's detonating ? If it shows that your car is detting you know theres a problem and you need to sort it out.

I think what P20 is trying to say to you is by having a knocklink in the car you will know there is a problem as that what they are for and without one you won't really have an idea.
