Supercharged impreza???
Just daydreaming at work......
How about getting rid of turbo lag by using a belt driven super-charger?? No I'm not considering doing this - unless I win the lottery, but thought it might be an interesting idea.......
Has anyone ever looked into the pro's and cons of this?

Lots of torque at low revs would be great (wouldn't need worry about using high revs). If I had money to burn then I'd consider something like this. I guess turbos will always be the norm due to their wide use and hence cheaper cost.
Oh well, I can dream on......

Superchargers also use more energy to produce the power than turbos do, and they are (normally) considerably larger. Someone in the States made one once, and it needed a 'power bulge' in the bonnet!
They're better suited, really, to a 'lazy driving' style, rather than manic. It's why Mercs are supercharged, and Jap cars have turbos!
