Question

Just fitted a boost guage to my MY01 UK300 (non PPP), what boost level should I see.

Last night for a quick test I got the following:

idle = -0.6 to -0.7bar
WOT = 0.89 to 0.92bar

Did get the occassional spike up to 1.1bar but then you could feel the car cutting boost back, have noticed this before but now I know what is happening.

Is all the above norm?

Cheers

Seems to be similar to what I see.

On track I get peak 1.1 and then it holds 1.0 all they way to the redline.

Si,

You lucky git!

Where is your gauge connected to, I connected mine to the front left of the inlet mainfold. Put a tee in where the small plastic doo da is.

Is this OK.

I did notice after that there is a join in the pipe which comes from the actuator and goes to a solenoid, would this be better / different?

Cheers

Even with PPP, it's not meant to hold 1 bar right through to the red line, a safe 1 bar at 7000rpm must be pushing the limits of the turbo. Mine with an Ecutek (1.18 bar peak, 1.14 held) has tailed off under 0.9bar after 6800 (delta dash figures). PPP boost tails off at 5000 and IIRC so does the standard, ecutek more like 5500.

Simon,

You know it's not PPPd, I just drive it well

Hades,

I agree that holding 1 bar all the way to the redline is pushing it, I find it does this in the morning sessions when it is colder. Later in the day when it is warmer I would be looking at 0.9 with hardly any noticeable drop off. The redline is not a place I go very often, I respect my car to much.

Bogie,

The lads at Prosport fitted mine, I think it is where you say.

Si.

Question

Forgive me if I sound stupid, but how is boost measured?
My turbo timer reads 0.52 at 90 mph and drops to about 0.46 at 100mph. Does this mean half a bar?
