ecu resetting
hi there,
does anyone know how to reset the ECU using the connectors underneath the steering column?
i have an import MY94 wrx sti which seems to have the following connectors, 1x green t shaped , 1 x black t shaped, 2 x black single ones and a big yellow one.
i connected up the black single ones and turned on ignition (didnt start car) to see what codes were stored.all fine, got a code 45 flashing up although the car runs great, no boost probs and no check engine light on so i assumed this was an old code. is this correct?
next i thought i had to connect the t shaped ones and the black ones, start the car and drive around for a few hundred yards which would then reset the ecu codes. all this seemed to achieve was that the check engine light remained illuminated while i was driving until i stoppped and unplugged everything. rechecked the codes and it was still the same.
does anyone know what i am doing wrong or can you shine any light on it. i dont really want to undo the battery for an hour just for that and risk probs with alarms etc.
as i said the car runs great, with about 17psi boost which it can hold fine and is standard.
thanks guys.

had another look at it and got it this time i think. i had done everything right but just hadnt driven it for long enough. found a site which says you have to have engine warm and atleast a minute of driving with speed over 15km/h for it to work.
both connectors need to be joined and then the light stays on until its reset at which point it flashes either an all clear or various error codes. guess my run around the block getting stopped at lights etc wasnt quite enough
