High temp under load on Mway

High temp under load on Mway
Hi All,
Looking for some advice if I may?! I have a 2004 Impreza GX , 117000 on the clock. Over the last week , I have noticed a rise in temp when on the motorway, not getting into the red, but very close. Will cool down by turning up the cabin heater. Runs fine around town. Not loosing water, had temp gauge changed, but issue remains! Garage is thinking water pump failing, is going to check rad for a blockage before changing the water pump, going to do cam belt also if waterpump has to be changed as daft not to while there ( due in around 10k anyway!).
Has anyone had any experience of this issue? Any thoughts, advice etc would be welcome! Thanks in advance :-)
