Default Impreza EJ20 Timing Belt Tensioner

Looking for some advice on my engine rebuild. I need to fit a new timing belt tensioner on my EJ20 engine (out of a 1996 STI RA import, although it may not be the original engine).

I haven't got the older hydraulic tensioner (V1/V2), that bit is clear. But I seem to have an older bracket which hasn't got the additional pulley to the right of the tensioner which i think as referred to as the "small idler" and comes on the newer type bracket. I need to renew the bracket as well as the thread is near on stripped.

I'll attach some pics ... my question is am i okay to fit the newer type bracket with (or without?) the small idler ?? as it seems the exact bracket i have is not readily available

My current setup :-

The newer version looks like this ... it looks like the bracket has been strengthened with a thicker wall where the pin sits, and the addition of another pulley wheel.

Is this the best way to go ? and does this mean the belt i need is different or is the belt the same for all post V1/V2 engines ??? (looks like it might be) My current belt was a Gates 5384XS

belts are all basically the same fit and the later bracket will install no issue
