Part next to alternator

Hi all,

On my bug eye, there has been a part removed at the time of mapping by one of the previous owners.

I have circled it on the picture below, but what has been removed from there? (cant seem to find an answer anywhere)

The belt / pulley cover has nothing to fix onto that side anymore and looks a bit daft now..

unless you purchase some M&S cool breathing undies as I’ve done much cheaper and keeping the engine bay weight down without a/c
