Default Prodrive sports cat fitment issue.

Afternoon chaps ,
Im after some advice with an issue i have,
i recently bought a prodrive sports cat believed to be off a blob its the later bellmouth type,
i have fitted this to my wrx along at the same time a vf35 the down pipe fits the turbo end fine but when i try to fit the 2nd decat its around an inch or two short and slightly off,
the 2nd decat is a scorpion version for the 01-05 as bought this new along with scorpion non res center into my prodrive rear box, all was spot on with the stock cat and td04 .

ive stupidly given the stock cat away before fitting the sport cats so never aligned them up to compare.
i had to leave the the bracket of the 2nd cat as was to far out and pull the whole system forward to make it fit, im not happy with this at all but allowed me to drive the car back into the garage and rethink.
can any one point me in my mistake? ive searched but not had much luck other than possibly it needs the longer hawk 2nd decat but this wouldn't of been around at the time of sale 03-05 of my down pipe so im not sure.

I believe the 2nd cat pipe on the prodrive downpipe is different to other aftermarket 2nd decat pipes, I think it's normally longer as the actual first cat section that bolts to the turbo is shorter than normal.

Did you get the prodrive 2nd pipe with it? Mine looked like it had a cat there but turned out to be a large heatshield and straight through pipe.

No the down pipe was on its own ,
as I thought it was the same length as the uk wrx oem cat so it would mate up, but just had a proper look again it's an inch to short. And ever so slightly off to the right , its to much strain on the rest of the system,
gutted now.

Yep, I believe they are needed as a pair. Maybe Don Clark (a.k.a Parts God) can identify a second pipe that will fit. Or have yours made longer. Shouldn't be too bad. I've done this on a few systems now and stainless welded myself. Do the flanges mate up ok to the actual downpipe?

the flanges are perfect mate to each other, its just a good inch gap and needs to be 5mm over to the right,

hmm. Seems you either need to get someone to mod the pipe or find a different one then.

Calling Don.

Personally didn't realise the Prodrive sports cat/second cat had their middle mating flanges in a different position to OEM.
but maybe it does...

I assume your profile pic is not the car involved

no its a 02 bug uk wrx.
i thought it would of been a direct fit.
The scorpion non res centre and 2nd decat where all fitted to the oem down pipe fine removed the down pipe, turbo and swapped out to a harvey smith up pipe/ vf35 and this down pipe, now its no where near.

Sounds like the DP isnt off a newage, I had similar with parts from Scoobyworld, I got a new flange then used this as a spacer between the centre section and rear Back box,
From memory when I got the classic back box & centre section( so all was classic) it didnt need the spacer, If you cant find one I can send it you.

i see what you have done thats a good idea but the down pipe is slightly off to the side also, im going to fit the decat pipe back on, sell the down pipe off i think the car is due to be mapped so not got time to mess around ...,

I'm relatively sure I have one of those 10mm thick flanges around too as I was making my own systems for a while. Does the centre pipe not move sideways enough to mate up? I'd be suprised if it didn't to be honest.

it does move to side, but then its not attaching to the gearbox bracket mount, its very tight fitting and having to use the bolts to pull it together that spacer would work i guess, as it should take the stress out and allow some wiggling,
just seems odd no reports on the forum of people having issues fitting these, id of thought the ppp kit used the same length 2nd decat then was an option to fit the down pipe?

By the sounds of it I'd loosen the gearbox exhaust mount, get everything to line up with the additional spacer to make it the right length then work out what you need to do to make the gearbox mount fit the box again, may just be a few washers etc required to space out.
