Its on the underneath of nearside head, 2008 impreza sti hatch.

cant see your pic with work browser but most likely the exhaust AVCS solenoid if it has the wiring connector to a square'ish alloy block

Never remove the engine without disconnecting the loom from them, it always ends up broken, depending on year, you may have to buy the whole avc's unit, instead of just the solenoid.
