Default Can anyone identify my exhaust please?

Hi all.

Just bought a 2009 hatchback WRX-S and it has a quad -exit exhaust.

Its fairly loud and of course stainless steel.

I think the quad-exit was only ever on the STi so I have no idea what it is. The previous owner didn't mod the car - it was done by someone before him

I've looked all over the internet and can't find one with the little balancer pipes that this one has.

Any help much appreciated.

James

Could be custom made. I haven't seen any like that and I've been looking at exhausts for ages.

~That's strange, never seen anything like that before. I would imagine it could be made quiet by shutting off those pipes and forcing all gases through the backbox?

How did you get on with exhaust Charly?

I'd also suggest its a custom made. Its pretty unusual to see aftermarket items with twin 90's in the pipework and so many joints.

i was wondering if they are actually open pipes or just some sort of strengthening added to it

Thanks!

Yea I was wondering if custom made. It does have a lot of joints. Must have taken someone ages!

Interesting thought about the little pipes. Could just be for strengthening I suppose. Be interesting if it ran quieter with them blocked. I’d have to find out if the pipes have open or closed ends I suppose.

Anyone got an endoscope!?

Yes... looks like it is probably bracing for the system... fascinating though - I shall try asking people who might know something...

It looks similar to a mod that is commonly done to Honda S2000 standard exhausts, which is basically a small silencer bypass pipe to make the exhaust slightly louder, it works really well on the S2000. Search 'S2000 UK exhaust mod' on Google.

Yes - wow. It looks along exactly the same lines.

I wonder if someone had this made, decided it was too quiet and had it made louder with these pipes.
