Evening all.

I've swapped my old 99 Impreza engine into my 2000 Forester turbo as I needed to do the clutch, and always planned for the Impreza engine to go into it.
Problem now is that it won't start from the key. Fuel pump primes, but wont turn over. If I bypass signal to the starter motor I can get it to turn, with spark and fuel.
I haven't touched anything to do with the alarm and it still works off the fob and I know the PIN.

I do still have my Impreza ECU that I could fit, but haven't yet. The engine I put in was exactly the same in regards to loom and plugs etc, which I have triple checked.

Any idea's?

I should add that there are no fault codes, I have a PSi3 and have even done an ECU reset via that.

The engine itself wont make a damn bit of difference as to whether the key will operate the starter.

You've either broken or missed a wire somewhere.

Thats why I was so stumped. I cleaned all the earth points and noticed the bonnet catch for the alarm wasn't connected and it seemed to work off the key after that was all done.
Runs a bit lumpy now but its getting there.
