HI

I need a new BOV for my 425 bhp hawkeye sti.


The car has a FMIC so can either be a universal fitment one attached via hosing, or a Subaru specific one in which I can buy an adapter plate.

Which is the best recirculating valve to handle the high boost pressure of my car?

Not interested in vent to atmospheres of any kind.

the original one works fine but if you want something bling I normally go for a forge one as you can ajust it by changing the springs inside to suit your boost level

Why boost? My standard one was passing at 1.75 bar at 421bhp. I changed to a new hks sqv and it comes with an adaptor to make it a recirculating valve. Have to get the plate seperate though

Turbosmart plumbback TS-0205-1215/16, not cheap but worth the money. Totally reliable, I wouldn't be tempted back to standard, they can leak at higher boost level.

I know the standard ones are good but I want something uprated that I know will handle the uprated boost

Thats the same one I have now, how do you turn it into a recirculating valve? I'm boosting at 1.6 bar 425 bhp

I like the look of these and aren't a bad price. I see they do a FMIPCV valve as an optional extra which would come in very handy.

Buy the FMIPCV at the same time - it takes all the hassle out of messing around with different spring ratings in the recirc valve

Oh yes 100%, they offer a substantial discount if you buy the valve and the FMIPC together

Turbosmart or a Tial QR are very high quality valves that work at high bhp outputs.SJ.

Shall check them out, I see on the Tial QR there are different spring pressures available. Which would I need for a 425 bhp output?

i took a punt on one of the China Tial QR's - for £30 delivered. its literally the same bar the brand naming. even when disassembled it had the same diaphram/cylinder assembly.

only thing i found was the hexhead screws where a bit soft so upgraded them with some Tial screws which werent exactly expensive either

and seeing as there aint a lot of engineering behind them i thought it was worth a punt....been on for 6mths now with no issues at all - we even ran it up to 1.7bar at one point

the turbosmart spring is adjustable, soft to hard, adjusted by turning the cap. On installation they recommend starting at the softest setting at idle and turning clockwise toward hard until the car idles normally, in effect the softest setting you can get away with. On boost it relies upon equalisation of pressure either side of the piston to keep it in place. The OEM DV relies on a very hard spring to keep it in place when the turbo's at max.

Interesting. Still tryin to decide, I'd say it was probably between the tial and the turbosmart on now as they are guaranteed to hold boost up to 600 bhp. Tial is significantly cheaper too...

I have used both brands "Tial and Turbosmart that I have mentioned previously and they are quality kits, you won't go wrong with either, and your right about them running fine at high bhp figures as my car is over 600 Horses and my Tial DV works fine.SJ.
