Default Classic 99 turbo water pump coolant by pass pipe

Hi, I have a classic 99y turbo impreza. Can you remove the metal coolant pipe from the engine without removing anything else?? It is the long pipe under the manifold etc I am having trouble with. Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure it's an inlet manifold off job, sorry. If you do it don't forget to make sure you have a new set of gaskets for when you put it back together.

it has two location tabs which are held in place by the same bolts that hold the x0over pipe down

Default Bypass pipe

I was considering cutting it at the front horizontal screwdown point and jointing it with a 16mm hose to save taking off the inlet. Is this a good idea??? My leak is just at the dipstick . would have run this all the way through to the heater on the bulkhead but I see there is a wee vertical pipe in the middle of the manifold
