But it would be the rest of the work that would be needed to be done that would put the spending up.

Goes without saying,rebuilds aren't cheap.
But some new blocks would be a good starting point and if they're a good price. Then

For a ej22 at today's rate, there's no such thing as a good price.
You seen the second hand prices?

Not seen any 2nd hand prices.
But to make a 2.0 into a 2.1 or a 2.5 into a 2.35 or something similar isn't a fortune,certainly not lottery money! Then I would expect a 2.2 not to be to expensive
End of the day a good solid block can be machined any way you want from the right engineer

Making a 2.35 from a 2.5 block is a bit of work to strengthen the block and then is a piece of string on how far it can be pushed, few have ran fine yes.
But a 2.35 from a ej22 block is definitely the one to have which has its own proven reliability.
Hence the price when the op reveals

An EJ22T go between 1k-1400 for a 2nd hand block, I ran my destroked 2.5 block based 2.35 at 2.2 bar and it got used properly and it ran happily. Any suby engine over 550bhp could go at any time regardless of the block its based just for different reasons, nothing is bombproof at this level.

Question is then:
Does it cost more than 1k-1.4k to buy&destroke a 2.5?

Good question Rich. Wasn't your block pinned Banny? It sure made good power. Would an AS closed block take more? Is a 2.5 destroked to 2.35 the same as a 2.2 stroked 2.35 as in power and delivery?

Why on earth would you destroke a 2.5? You want all the capacity and stroke length you can't get, hence why it's common to increase the capacity and stroke length of the 2.0 and 2.2.
Don't say to make it Rev either because 100mm bore and 79mm stroke will Rev alright! Andy Forrest can't get his head round this one either.

+1. When building my engine this was one option but again doesn't make sense. Wich is why we chose to go a different route

My good friend just had this proven as he had a newly built 2.35 with a closed deck ej22 with all good parts and ended up putting a rod though the block (high 500s) , then had to source another ej22 at the same high cost as the first one to get back to the same spec in a reasonable time frame

Would of been loads cheaper for him to go for a closed deck 2.5 like mine,,,,there is no replacement for displacement

Sorry for the delay guy's, my boss is on hols and I can't get into his email for pics etc!

We are going to advertise these at £2995 delivered in the UK, overseas carriage will be extra. Just so you know, these were £2500 + VAT and carriage from Subaru when they were available from them many moons ago!

I will post some pics when I can get them forwarded to me!

What is the spec of these (e.g. forged pistons from factory?) and what are the correct headers to use?

Are these 22T's? If so, how much you looking for for them?

These are the bare block casings, nothing else.

I'm sort of hoping no-one does buy them but as I said above, retail price from Subaru was £2500 plus VAT and shipping and they are still "mint in the box".

Why try and sell them on here if you hope no one does buy them. Defeats the whole topic that you started

Because they are my bosses blocks, said he wanted them put on forums, facebook, ebay etc. If they don't sell then I have the chance to get the funds together to buy one or both! If I do manage to sell them I get a small drink out of it.

Surely a buyer is a buyer Whether it's anyone on the forum or yourself. Why don't you save your time instead of posting them on the forums and ebay and buy them yourself. Unless your waiting for one of us members to say hey you should buy them.

If that's the case I think you should blow 6k on to blocks mate
