harvey trick uppipe
full decat and toyosport exhaust

I've one on my 1998 Type R daily driver

Standard size engine (Newage)
Hayward & Scott decat and centre section
Walbro fuel pump
800cc injectors
OEM intake
Newage STI tmic

Running actuator pressure (1.2bar) more boost to be added in the next month or so

Decent enough turbo, you may find it slightly laggy when pulling away but when it hits boost it hits it quite well

Problem with the SC range is that they have Garrett imitation cores. I had my SC42 rebuilt by Turbo Dynamics who confirmed this. Mine only lasted a month and now the actuator needs replacing. :/

Wish I'd gone for an MD321T

Thought SC42 and Blouch were same apart from smaller exhaust housings,

My turbo must be Blouch as on the exhaust housing it says BPT

This was rebuilt at Owen Developments who made it into a Hybrid.

But they did say it had a Garrett core ???

Mines the newer one SC sell with the black compressor housing. Turbo dynamics said that they can't offer me any warranty on the turbo as it isn't a genuine garrett core. I was kinda gutted considering its a £1620 turbo. made me feel like I should have just given a kinugawa turbo a go!

Obviously i'm just going by what they've told me. But mine definitely doesn't have a tag on it or any mention of the Garrett name :/

Just showing you what it says.

Sounds like either

False Advertising if it's a fake Garrett core.

Or Turbo Company taking the **** trying to con you into buying their own brand.

Yeah possibly either way. Interesting that ScoobyClinic don't advertise it as being Garrett on their website though, surely that would be a good selling point?

Would be good if there was someone who has actually stripped a blouch and an sc down and see the true differences and not the "claimed" differences.

Could be they just use blouch housings at SC

As i cant figure why some sc are the same housing as the blouch dominator (Silver Like mine) could be dom 1.5-3
And others Black with BPT (Yours). could be 16g-20gXTR.

May just be covers and the internals are different.

Only going by turbos on Blouches website.

No point in comparing blouch site with SC's, as said above they are custom spec.

Id like to see what the difference actually is.
Side by side.

If they are so custom then why use the housing still.

They may add thier own wheel and exhaust housing.

Theres only so many bits to a turbo.
Be good to see what exactly are the differences.
At the end of the day its just an air pump.

If it starts off life as a blouch then it should be garret if its ballbearing.

SC may add thier own internals etc. but id imagine the core stays the same or else there would be no reason to start with a blouch in the first place.

Be good to see what they actually flow compared to one another.

Blouch say on their website they manufacture for the UK market but it seems SC have distribution rights . . I doubt the turbos are even touched when they get to the UK and SC are just box shifting with a profitable margin.

US spec blouch 2.5XTR polka pickle is available with 8cm and 10cm turbine housing. UK SC46 is 7cm turbine housing. . .I think they're the only real differences ???

If so then why would sc42 switch from blouch dominator to blouch 20gxtr
Outside housings.

Have a look on blouch site.

Sc may well do tht.

But i cant see SC buying blouch turbos fitting their own wheels and rebalncing etc.

Wouldnt make business sense.

Would be as well to start from scratch.

Scoobyclinic stopped using the Garrett Cartridges on their turbos last year when the new 9 blade high flow turbines came out, as i dont think they are compatible.
The Cartridges are still ball bearing and come standard with metal carrier unlike the plastic one on the garrett cartridge (which has caused problems on some race cars)

ive upgraded to the new turbines and cartridges on all 3 of my subarus, all making more power with similar or better spool.

Scoobyclinic turbos are manufactured by Blouch, but I know the compressor / turbine wheel trims are different and the exhaust housing is smaller.

Blouch still sell turbos with the Garrett Cartridge and offer the 9 blade turbine and cartridge as a upgrade.

I guess that clears that up then. I've had mine uprated with ceramic bearings and they've done something special to the oil seals. I can't really remember what they said now. So we'll see how it goes when i finally get around to mapping again.
