Default will a 3 plug tps work on a 4 plug tps loom ?

I've picked up a clean v1sti and will be so will be converting my v3 forged cdb engine back to v1 (straight forward enough) but I've complicated things by buying a converted phase 1 ra inlet/alternator relocation bracket

the ra inlets running a phase 1.5 throttle body and tps due to the new route for the throttle cable (phase 1 tb operates the opposite way so won't fit) although I could modify the shaft that operates the butterfly to operate the phase 1 tps it would turn the wrong way

Think I've got everything else covered it's just the fact that the loom runs a 4 plug tps and the inlet runs a 3 plug tps
so would the phase 1.5 tps work properly on the phase 1 engine loom if I just ignored the extra brown wire on the plug ?

thanks in advance

If tried to figure out the same thing, but ended up doing nothing 'cause I couldn't find anything about it that was useful.
I think it would be possible with an aftermarket ECU, but not on the original one.

I'll hope you'll have more luck.

I've searched most forums and only found 1 post from martin Jeffrey that says itwill work without the brown wire connected but I don't want to fit the converted reverse inlet manifold and cut the fmic pipework just to find out it doesn't work .

I've asked my mapper (jgm) and he hasn't had the time to reply yet .

bit gutted tbo as the reversed inlet is all painted and ready to assemble proir to the engine and box transfer this weekend .

Thanks for your input anyways and if I do find a answer I'll post it on this thread in case someone searches for the info on here .

spoke to my mapper and it will make the tps 5v down (whatever that means lol) but it will work with my apexi ecu (or alcertek) as it will allow you to adjust the throttle position input via the hand controller

Just thought I'd update this thread in case someone else finds this during a search .

The v1sti has had the apexi mapped and runs fine with the brown wire blanked off and now running a 3 plug tps .

cheers for the input .

Cheers sj
I should updated my project thread as it's crept from a cat back and remap on a uk turbo to a self forged build with a v1 sti re shell .

yeah I know it's technically another car now but it's still silver with the same exhaust :-)

Cheers matt
And yes mate she's up n running but the classic sti coil packs stopped play due to it misfiring (blowing the spark out with any more boost )

Did still manage to get 330/300 @ 1.1 bar

Now on the search for some newage coilpacks with pigtails ;-)

Fairly sure that engine i sold you will be purring nicely matt but have you put that esl ecu to good use and pushed your 5 speeds limits yet ?

Alot different to the old one how.it drives? Still think it needs a bigger turbo! All good Yes she's running lovely been going Leicester and back every weekend in it, been doing a few bits here and there the esl been sitting on a shelf since I got it, but only for a couple.more weeks now until get that sorted out, then Il be needing a new gearbox, think there was a set of coils and pigtails in for.sale section not sure if they sold or not was a couple week ago,

I'd love a bigger turbo to hit 400hp but can't afford this side of xmas :-(
I'll have a squint for those coilpacks when I get home as I could at least gain a bit more boost and max out the tdo5 16 g

It pulls much cleaner but the switch from recirc to dump valve makes backing of the throttle a bit abrupt but I'm starting to like the shhh and chatter ;-)

Glad to hear yours is running sweet and the esl won't be gathering dust for much longer
