Default WRX 2004 Throttle Position

Hey Guys,

I own a 2004 WRX Prodrive (all but prodrive is stock)

Recently i feel my turbo comes in late and i tried to confirm that with and OBD adapter:
started logging and saw that sometimes i am on 0.4 bar at over 3000 rpm.
as i understand and remember it should be at full boost at over 3000 rpm.
It does get to 1.1 bar as it should but i feel it is very late.

like i used to have a cheetah and now i have a pony (ok, not a pony but it is accelerating definitely slower)

Went to the garage and they have searched for vacume leaks.
The previous owner had a Forge BOV that i changed back to the original BPV (for testing purpose i have made the change again to see if the original BPV leaks or something and the cheetah comes back with the forge bov - no luck)

searching for more directions, saw in Torque that my "Throttle Position (Manifold)" gets only the 78% even when i press the throttle all the way down.

Can someone confirm it should be at 100% when pressing the paddle all the way? maybe it doesnt gets to 100 and im confusing with another data.
(it gets to 78% when car is on or only switch turned on)

I have no car fixing background at all.

Sorry for my bad English and long story.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Lior.

i cannot attach files so here is a link to my Torque screen:

Hey Maydew,
Thanks for the reply.

Forgot to write, I have pulled the cable by hand from under the hood all the way and it shows 78% throttle.

I read that the psi3 is a car monitor(?), how can we tell if its monitoring the same value on the ecu?
i only have Torque to check.

Any more info and ideas would be great!

Thanks,
Lior

yes similar to the scangauge but the psi3 was designed to work with the subaru so i believe ,i cannot see there been such a big difference to what we are seeing as this type of software only tells us what the ecu is seeing.scott

Hey Scott,

Thanks for the info.
I found on torques site that the identifier they read from the ecu is: 0x11
"Throttle position (at manifold), this is not the accelerator pedal, and this is a relative reading."
so maybe im not reading the right value for accelerating? Can you see what identifier your psi3 reads?
My question still remains is the value im reading should be 100% at wide open throttle? Does my car knows i wanna accelerate at full speed or am i looking at something that doesnt mean 100% = full throttle...

Thanks alot,
Lior

Not sure if will help you but i am pretty sure the tgv valves on the manifold has the same sensors at the end of the shaft opposite to the motor as the throttle position sensor ,ball ache but swap the sensor with one off these see what you get.
While unplugged see if the percentage moves to see if your looking at the right sensor.scott

Update: went to the garage and checked with another monitor.

Pressed the throttle all the way and it showed %100.

I guess the Torque application does not monitor the same value - if anyone comes across this in the future.

Thanks,
Lior.
