Default Hatchback Scooby?

So... The bug has showed its face again, and I am thinking of getting behind the wheel of another Scooby.
My last 2 Scoobies were Classics (an Sti and a Type R) but due to the mileage I do everyday, I think I should look at the new age.

I am quite taken by the hatchback version. Anything I should look for? I would like an STi, would it cope with 40 mile a day motorway (A127 and A12) trips?

Any other points greatly appreciated

I would look for either a 2.0 JDM version or a UK car that has had the 2.5 engine rebuilt....

Wow! That is terrible!! Import it is! Two questions... What does IM mean (I bet its obvious!) And why are the imports better built? Are the Jap and UK cars different specs?

Loads of differences.

Basically the 2006 onwards cars were 2ltr in Japan and 2.5ltr in the UK. The JDM 2ltr motors are far superior. Better heads, cams, increased rpm limit, twin scroll turbo and lots more.
The UK 2.5s were a bit hit and miss wit regards to reliability.
Certainly research carefully whichever way you go.
2.5s are exceptionally strong motors, but all motors are not built equal.

OMG, those pics bring back some memories! Remember it was an ST?, as I did buy it as a WRX, but at 295bhp I think it held a little secret!!
That was such a great day for me, so much fun with my Scooby!

I would consider a blob eye STi tbh, great car for the money.
