The MRs gave me 6 months.....new Scoob alert!!
So after selling my blob STI back in Jan 14, the Mrs told me i'd get another one in 6 months. Well I proved her wrong...............I lasted 15 months
So last weekend I got a sleasyjet up to Glasgow to go and view a JDM Prodrive Bug STI. A rare car by all accounts..........
Saw it in the flesh, was as described being sold by an enthusiast chap who was a staff member of Scottish Scoobies. The deal was done and I embarked on the 408 mile journey back to Essex.
Quick run down of spec that I know of...
Andy Forrest 20g
FMIC
750cc injectors
Green induction kit
GFB Dump Valve
ST Spec Headers
3 inch turbo back decat exhaust
STI strutbrace
Pedders suspension and lowering springs
More whiteline gear you can shake a stick at
18 inch Rota GRA's
Grooved disks
3x Defi gauges
Sony stereo
Thats all off the top of my head, there maybe more. Andy Forrest has mapped it to 1.3bar which will equate to around 360bhp. I'm sure the map can be tweaked to 1.5 bar so maybe will see 400bhp, but I will get a full service done on it before turning the boost up
Being a JDM it feels a lot more raw than my UK blob. Its certainly quicker, and the 8,000 rpm red line is fun. The launch control is also more aggressive
Bodywork is pretty much spot on, infact very good for a 14 year old car.
Things on my to do list, first thing needs a cambelt which is getting done Thursday, need some new wheel nuts as the current ones are a bit tired, front disks need changing within 6 months I guess so will probably change all 4 and new pads for some Performance Friction jobbies, full service, (although the service history is spot on, I want to get my one done for piece of mind), map tweek and then I can see me needing a new clutch
All in all I am a very happy chappy. Been out today and bizzarely saw Simon57 parked up near Halfords, Looie shortly after and Millzy after that ha ha. Old skoooooooooool

20g feels strong, keeps going to the red line but of course abit laggy, but I don't mind, I think that's the fun bit, waiting , waiting then boom go. A lot more aggressive than my VF35 with standard airbox and standard dump valve ha ha. Will be even better with 1.5 bar I think

Well just had the cambelt changed at Extreme Scoobies in Chelmsford. Got there at 8am, was on my way back home just after 9am! Great service! Paul also gave it the thumbs up so pleased about that. I noticed in the week that the cover plate on the rear diff was grimy, so got Paul to have a look but he said no leaks so no problems. There was another WRX up on the ramp which i also noticed had a black patch on its diff same as mine so not to worried now.
Alos managed tohave a good look underneath while on the ramp, all nice and clean, no signs of rot and all straight.
Ordered some blue lightweight tuner nuts so will change them over when the arrive - should be good for another 50bhp :-)
Next thing on the to do list is new pads all rounds and front disks
