If you are plugging in chips and it is an ESL board it will be a v1.0 and therefore unmappable.

the best thing to do is put up a picture of the inside of the ecu with the chips, there may be some markings on them to help identify them.

If it says v1.0 on the silkscreen it is unmappable. The new v2.0 mappable board with twin maps and mafless etc is 295GBP+VAT.

Yes mate it says v1.0 on it so its not mappable how will I know that it's running true for my car and the spare set of chips how will I know if they are any good for my car I was on the understanding that that they are plug and play but I don't want to risk my engine any help would be great cheers. Only purchased this ecu as was told running the standard ecu with my mods would be dangerous not looking for anything crazy at the min just want to be able to bury the throttle without blowing it up thought and options would be great mate cheers

a standard z4 ecu with your mods will be fine. the esl you have may have been mapped aggressively for a car with stronger mods than yours e.g bigger injectors, IMO running the esl is abigger risk than the standard ecu due to the fact the chip are bound to run more boost and more aggressive timing/fueling. you need to find out what they were mapped for.

you cant live map them. you need to find a mapper with the right gear to write a more generic map to them so you at least know whats on them.

You can't get it mapped. If you run it check fuelling and det with a wideband and knock sensing equipment. The ESL v1.0 ran more boost, targetted an 11:1 AFR and ran less timing than a Z4.

I own half of ESL but we don't map end user cars directly. Our live mappable ECU is 295+VAT and gives you twin maps, mafless, diagnostics, knock control, etc etc. Any of the recognised tuners on here can map it for you or you can self map.

I think I've said it a few times now lol, the one you have is unmappable, you can't change the parameters in it.

Self map means you can map it yourself. (The v2.0 board, not the v1.0 board.)

Cheers.

Use your standard ecu and have a new esl board fitted. This can then be mapped to suit your car and you can reap all the benefits that the new software offers.

No, we created the live mappable board to do what you are asking. The v1.0 is just an EPROM emulator, like a MINES ECU or similar. It was designed for a standard car. I haven't seen one for 6 years.

Matts advice is correct.

Cheers

Andy
