Advice on this ecu

My nephew bought a 2005 wrx tonight and has sent me this picture of the ecu. Now i no my classics thats it and not alot about his. 1st question is this a standard ecu? 2nd question is, is it mappable thanks

Best bet would probably be to take the cover off the ECU to see what's printed on the board. That might tell you exactly what it is.

Yes it's a standard ECU - 2001 onwards and is EOBD compliant.(hence Denso rather than the older Jecs)
Yes it is mappable.
Part number 22611AJ830 equates to MY05 WRX
