P0031 - EML
Hi All,
New to the Scooby forum after purchasing my first Scooby as my second car owner of a 2004 WRX 4DR I bought the car for a decent price knowing the EML Was on... ODB read it - P0031 - Oxygen (A/F) Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 1) - Am I right in thinking this is just replacing the front O2 Sensor on the precat?
Is there anything I need to check first before buying one and replacing? Could it just need cleaning?
Many thanks in advance!

The sensor involved is the A/F sensor in the manifold just before the up pipe.
On the WRX there is also an EGT sensor in the pre-cat up pipe.
Accessed via a flap in the offside front wheel arch liner.
You could check for burnt wiring where the lead runs up past the RH cyl head cover to it's connector near the RH strut top.
OEM or Denso is best.

Thanks Will get one ordered tonight and get it on hopefully this weekend... Would this explain why the exhaust pop quite a lot once it's warm? or do you reckon previous owner has put a sports cat or something on? Running a magnex backbox from what I can see! Just need it on the ramps ideally...
